Planning

When inclement weather approaches, the Superintendent consults with sources like other PCSD administrators, local road crews, law enforcement, weather forecasts and other district administrators. If we can safely run buses, we will.

Timing

Any closure or modification to the school day will be communicated as quickly as possible based on the nature of the storm or event. The goal is to make a decision the night before if forecast models are strong, or as early as possible in the mornings to allow for as much time for families to plan as possible.

Decisions Based On

Closing decisions are based on numerous factors, such as:

• Current and predicted weather conditions

• Road conditions

• The ability for schools to prepare for safe student arrivals

Notifications

The PCSD community will be notified of weather-related closings, delays or early releases via:

• Infinite Campus

• Social Media postings from the District’s pages

• The District website

• Media outlets
